A full gold Sovereign contains approximately 0.235 troy ounces of pure gold. Its intrinsic bullion value can therefore be estimated by multiplying the current gold price per troy ounce by 0.235.

When buying a Sovereign, you will usually pay a premium above its intrinsic gold value. This reflects costs associated with manufacturing, distribution and selling the coin.

Some Sovereigns may be worth more than their underlying gold value. Factors such as age, rarity, condition, historical significance and collector demand can mean that certain coins command an additional premium.
